I cannot believe the 4th of July has passed! Such nice weather and fun times at the beach and the pool. This is the first year we did not see fireworks. We were just too busy with heading to the beach, the pool and seeing friends. My older daughter now works but does not drive yet so we have to coordinate our schedules too. Such a fun time this season will be. I love seeing all the July 4th photos of people wearing red, white and blue too. I did not get too many photos this year as we were just relaxing and enjoying the moments. Here is to a restful, peaceful and happy summer season!
This 4 person raft is one of the best purchases this summer
We anchored the raft into the sand so we would not float away. It sure made for a peaceful time in the ocean. It even had room for beverages and a cooler for food!
Some goodies at a party we attended. I love how cupcakes are creative these days.
Happy 4th of July!
Anyone who has school age kids knows June is one busy month. Between sports ending, Father’s Day, final exams and vacation, getting it all done during this last month of school is challenging. I am a big fan of taking a night away if you can to relax and enjoy the view. Plus if you have older kids it provides a nice way for you to spend some family time together (the teen years tend to be the sulky, silent ones ) We were lucky that our night away in beautiful #Ogunquit Maine was sunny and in the 90s. To make it feel like you are away for more than one night we arrive at the destination early, like by 9:00 am and leave late. If you cannot get into your hotel room that early, check out the facilities, visit the local beach or have breakfast. We were out and about all day, checked in a bit early, lounged by the pool, had dinner with friends and then got up early for breakfast. The first weekend in June is the perfect time for a get-a-way and to enjoy the beginning of the warm weather before the month’s activities pick up. We were also able to use the pool the following day and did not head home until 5:00 pm! It truly felt like we were gone for five days. So if you can only get a way for a night try the early in late out method if your hotel allows as that is a great way to recharge and refresh before the summer season kicks up. Take time to enjoy the view, spend time with your family without technology and the good times will follow.
Sit back and enjoy the view this summer #travel #traveltips
I love to sleep but some mornings I wake up with bed head, dry skin and the dreaded crease on my face! Why not get in your beauty sleep with a silk pillowcase. Not all silk pillows are created equal. So glad that Slip pure silk pillowcase sent me one to test out. It comes in a beautiful package and it is very soft and you just sink into it when you hit the pillow. There are some benefits to using a Slip pillow case including less sleep crease, no more bed head and it can help hydrate your skin.
Minimizes sleep crease – many times I have woken up with a crease across my face – imagine what sleeping on the side of our face on a cotton pillowcase does for wrinkles year after year? No more with slip! Their web site says years of chronic sleep crease completely disappears after the very first night. No more crease for me!
No more bed head – silk pillowcases are gentler on your hair than cotton. According to the Slip website, “Cotton grabs your hair and twists it at the root throughout the night, damaging hair and causing bed-head in the morning, whereas silk is so gentle on your hair, it allows your hairstyle/blow-dry to last overnight” This is great news especially for those who love to make their blow dry last days! That alone sold me on the product.
It helps hydrate your skin – Cotton can be very absorbent and a cotton pillow case can draw moisture away from your skin . You may feel more hydrated with Slip! Plus silk breathes and is a natural temperature regulator – my perimenopause friends will love it – so soothing and so sweating! Buy yours here
Slip pillowcase arrives in a lovely package
Smooth as silk…Slip pillowcase is so smooth and a dream to sleep on!
Disclosure: I was sent a slip pillow case to test out. As always all opinions in this blog post are my own.
I love my travel size beauty products and I love this line of beauty products from Tatcha which the creator started by taking a holistic approach to beauty based on classical Japanese beauty secrets and the approach that that less is more. The Tatcha collection has something for everyone.
The website says, “The foundation of the line is Hadasei-3™, a trinity of anti-aging superfoods born from the Japanese diet, and the basis for the original geisha beauty rituals: green tea, rice and algae. Every ingredient is carefully selected and minimally manipulated to be gentle and safe with maximum effectiveness.”
Here are a few products the company sent me to test out.
The Deep Hydration Firming Eye Serum is a weightless serum of Okinawa Red Algae, Honeysuckle Leaf and Caffeine. In one use I noticed an instance difference. Loved the hydration it offers.
I have a ton of hand creams everywhere. I like the soothing hand cream as it is super hydrating and it calms irritated skin. What is different about it is that is has a blue color which is a natural Japanese Indigo and disappears upon application. Super cool!
The Camellia Gold Spun Lip Balm is unlike any other I have tried. The packaging is so nice and it is ultra hydrating. Made with Camellia Oil it leaves your lips with a bit of golden shimmer. The glossy finish is perfect and it has 23-karat gold flakes right in it! A must for your make-up bag!

Crazy busy few weeks! Can you believe it is May?? I was so upset that I could not get to Florida for April school vacation week! What the heck did I have to complain about that for???? My younger daughter and I had a very nice couple of nights at two very special properties.
April is a great time to check out hotels in New England. The weather was pretty good for school vacation week too! Our first venture was an overnight at the Sea Crest. This property in Falmouth is unlike any other place on Cape Cod. This beach resort is right on the water with a restaurant, pool and parking right there. The rooms have great water views – check out our ocean front room! The restaurant Red’s is just great. One night at this hotel is so relaxing that is will totally refresh and relax you. The front desk staff is always so nice!
Our second overnight was at The Delamar in Greenwich CT. This was a very nice property that was right near the rodeo drive of the east – lots of shopping right up the street so it was a great gals get-a-way. When you check in they give you champagne and they even had a wine and cheese reception. My 12 year old enjoyed the complementary tea and hot chocolate. The Delamar has a lovely spa right on the premises but we did not have time to experience it. (My daughter asked if it was complementary lol) Next time we will check it out and take a trip to NYC too. The train was close by the hotel and it was a 40 minute trip in to the city. The reception desk was quite helpful and suggested we come back in the summer when they offer local boat rides and a complementary ride to a local beach!
Both resorts are ideal for a girls trip too!
Disclosure: I received discounted hotel rooms at each location. As always all opinions are my own in this blog post.

I love being a #RedSoxMom! I also cannot wait to attend a Red Sox game. There are some fun events happening at Fenway and wanted to share this information:
Wally’s Opening Day – Wally has made it to TV! The Red Sox have debuted “Wally’s Opening Day” on NESN. As part of the club’s “Calling All Kids” initiative, an ongoing effort to connect baseball to the next generation of fans, the Red Sox created this special 30-minute animated show, Wally’s Opening Day, featuring the loveable mascot and a star-studded cast. April also marks the 20th anniversary of Wally’s introduction to Red Sox fans. These voices may sound familiar to you as the characters have some big names! Wally’s voice is played by Tom Kenny aka Mr. SpongeBob SquarePants, Uzo Aduba (Orange is the New Black), Jennifer Coolidge (American Pie, Two Broke Girls), H Jon Benjamin (Bob’s Burger, Archer), and Lenny Clarke (Rescue Me).
Kid Nation – The “Kid Nation” program has launched for the 2017 season which again is giving 25,000 free game tickets to kids! Check it out here for more details. There is free and paid options for Kid Nation – both of which get the free game ticket!
Red Sox Showcase – Finally, the Red Sox Showcase is back again this year! The Showcase, which is a traveling Fenway Park and includes a batting cage, pitching stations, and a virtual reality experience, will be traveling throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island this summer. The initial kick-off event for this season will be at Faneuil Hall on Saturday, May 6.
Disclosure: I am a #RedSoxMom and as part of the program I may receive goodies and a ticket to a game. As always all opinions are my own in this blog post.
Of the many News Year’s resolutions people make are to get in to shape and look their best. How are you all doing now that is is March? I am starting back up at the gym and trying to eat healthy. Of course diet and exercise are on the top list but there are a few must have items that can help you look your best. Conair was nice enough to send me a few products to test out and they did not disappoint. You may have some Conair products right in your bathroom. They have a great line of personal care products including grooming, health and wellness appliances and hair products. Over the years I have had a number of great hair dryers from Conair. They make great products for teens and adults and have for decades. Here are some of my favorites:
Two-sided lighted make-up mirror – this staple has been a classic at Conair for over 20 years. It is a tri-panel mirror with 4 variable light settings – office, evening, home and day light and it closes up to store easily. My teen loves it. Not only for applying make-up and styling hair but to put in contacts. Also, no more guessing about how to add your foundation in the perfect light. This makes a very nice gift for mom on Mother’s Day (hint, hint)
Weight Watchers Scale – This body analysis glass scale has it all and it is the one to get you on track to be fit. It provides all the measurements for weight, body fat percentage, body water, bone mass and BMI. I like the lit background and you can see the digital results. If you really want a good scale in your house to keep you accountable this is the one to get. It’s super sleek and matches any décor.
Infiniti PRO Diamond Brilliance Diamond-infused Ceramic Smoothing Hot brush – This styles hair without damage and saves you time. Super easy to use and less scary than a straight iron, this heated brush leaves your hair shiny, smooth and frizz free. A few tips if you do get this must have item – make sure your hair is dry and follow the heat settings for your hair – Low for thin, delicate hair, medium for average to thick hair and high for very thick or wavy hair. I also like the auto shut off! What makes this brush different is the diamond infused ceramic, paddle brush handle, ionic generator which helps to remove frizz and add shine and the nylon, silicone and ceramic-coated bristles make is very easy to maneuver and use. I like this very much to freshen up the hair before you go out and to use as a last step to get super smooth hair after your blow dry.

Perfect together: the Conair lighted make-up mirror and the smoothing hot brush help you to get ready fast!

The Weight Watchers Scale by Conair tells you all and will keep you on track with your weight loss goals.
This February school vacation week was unlike any other. The temperatures hit 70 degrees in Massachusetts! We went skiing one day and the beach the next. It was crazy! We were lucky to be able to stay with friends at Loon Mountain and skied a couple days. Then we headed to Ice Castles! This has been on my list of must sees this winter. Luckily Ice Castles sent us tickets and we went earlier in the week as with the crazy New England weather they cannot guarantee it will be open, because, well due to melting! While they are closed for the season now, this is something you need to put on your list of things to do with the kids during the winter vacation next year! I thought it looked beautiful and if you have kids that love the movie frozen it makes it even more magical. The Ice Castles are built by hand using only water and icicles. We did go during the day but I hear they light up at night so will have to check it out at night next year! Here are some FAQ’s from the Ice Castles website so plan a bit before you go and wear your snow pants as they have a fun slide!

Finally, my home office makeover is complete! Well, I am still looking for the perfect desk but the walls have been painted, shelves cleaned and organized and I feel refreshed and ready to work even harder this year! It is amazing what a bit of paint and clearing the clutter can do! I have worked from home for over 14 years so I had a lot of files and notebooks that stacked up. I did have some help with the organizing thanks to my friend Gretchen from The Fancy Kind. The Fancy Kind is a staging and interior decorating service outside of Boston. Gretchen is great at taking what you have in your home or office and organizing it in a way that is clutter free. My friend Julie helped with the paint selection and she has a great company called design 2 order and can consult on paint colors, interior design and help with organizational challenges and more.
Here are some photos of the home office space before and after:
My home office had not been organized in 7 years!
The details are what makes my office neat and clean.
All the shelves are cleaned off. It looks so much better.
Here is my home office after the makeover. My work space is much more efficient and of course tidy.
The colors I used to decorate the office are white, pink and gray.
I love the beach so I wanted to add in some beach themed touches to the decor.
